Hyundai Tuscon has been the brand’s top selling vehicle for some time, highly praised by many of the automotive media outlets including this one. In fact, the current generation Hyundai Tucson has been on our Id Buy It List since 2023 – our highest praise.
In testing an updated 2026 Tucson Hybrid recently, we found that they have made it even better. Starting with the 2025 they have thoughtfully sweetened the pot to freshen it up and add more of what customers want today. In that way, it has updated styling inside and out and more tech features than ever before. Is that what you wanted? Well let’s have a look see.
The Hyundai Tucson is already a sharp and progressive design to begin. Here they have simply refined and evolved the details including a new grille and LED daytime running light signature. It received new front and rear bumper fascias, revised wheel designs on all trims, and updated emblems all around.
The changes are subtle and certainly don’t dock the boat. Why ruin a good thing? Inside however is where the biggest news is with a completely redesigned dash that features Hyundai’s new curved a dual screen cockpit layout featuring an available 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 12.3-inch infotainment display screens.
It’s a great formula that not only looks good but is much easier to live with an operate than before. The center stack thankfully gets hard controls to augment the touchscreen for commonly used functions, my favorite.
Also redesigned on all trims is the center console, steering wheel and door panel trims. Upper trim grades now have an electronic column-mounted gear selector toggle that allows even more space to be had in the new center console. Not my favorite feature here, but it works well once your get used to it.
The upgraded infotainment system now features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay regardless of which trim grade you choose. My tester also had the available 12-inch color head-up display that can even project turn-by-turn navigation data on the windshield.
The interior as I have reported on our full test drive on the 2023 Tucson Hybrid is well made with visually appealing materials that feel as good as they look. Comfort here in the Limited is tops with heated and ventilated seats. Even with base models, the chairs are quite comfortable and supportive.
My tester had the popular 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid powertrain which offers exceptional fuel economy and the driving experience of a traditional 6-speed automatic transmission. The Hybrid has 231 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque and comes standard with all-wheel-drive. That latter detail is notable as some competitors still come standard with only front-wheel drive.
I found that performance is sporting with its quick shifting automatic transmission, and as stated a more traditional feel than hybrids which use continuously variable drive formats. The switch between gas and electric power is handled in a very refined way too.
Fuel economy is a commendable 36 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 36 mpg combined for our Tucson Limited tester. In our week with it, that is exactly what we achieved. If you want more you can get the Blue trim grade which achieves a little more at 38 mpg combined.
Pricing on our 2026 Limited tester was $43,675 which is about the most you can spend. Keep in mind that the base Blue models start out around $34,000 so there are more affordable options.
With all the updates, I am proud to say that the refreshed Hyundai Tuscon Hybrid is every bit the vehicle I was impressed with enough in 2023 to put on our Id Buy It List – our highest praise. There is just more to like now.
