At the New York Auto Show, Land Rover unveils their newest level of luxury for the sport-utility sophisticate, the 2016 Range Rover SVAutobiography.

The new top-line model for Range Rover, the SVAutobiography takes its place as the new flagship for the brand. Building on the already luxe Range Rover, a higher level of bespoke interior and exterior touches take it up closer to where only Rolls Royce and Bentley have ventured.

With a price starting at just under $200,000 virtually guaranteeing exclusivity, the SVAutobiography will be built at Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Technical Center. There it will be one of the first models for the brand to offer a bespoke two-tone paint scheme to go with its unique exterior trims.

Based on the long wheel base Range Rover, the SVAutobiography can be had with a specially tuned version of the company’s 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 550 horsepower. Power will stream to all four wheels through an eight-speed ZF transmission.

While gaining an additional 40 horsepower, Land Rover says the engine offers up the same efficiency levels as the 510 horsepower version of the engine. The extra power comes from a more aggressive tune of the fuel and boost management.

The exterior can be had in the aforementioned two-tone scheme with a top color of black, paired with nine color choices for the lower half. Unique emblemology and a more artful front grill adorn the SVAutobiography in addition to polished chrome accents.

Its interior is really where the differences are found in details like knurled aluminum knobs and switchgear, aluminum trim fittiments and pedals. Top grain leather hides line virtually every surface as expected, but here they take on a richer tone.

The rear passenger compartment gets a cooler for refreshments and beautifully detailed work tables with wood and aluminum construction. Carpeting and trims are lush to the touch, allowing leg stretching bliss.

It’s expensive yes, and the 2016 Range Rover SVAutobiography will likely only be seen in select locations around the U.S like Beverly Hills, San Francisco’s Financial District and of course Manhattan.

The new luxury liner with options will likely push well into the $200,000 price range but could likely still be found in the fleets of the poshest livery vehicle services too. Wherever it lands, the 2016 Range Rover SVAutobiography goes on sale this fall.
