The new 2022 Nissan Frontier has just begun arriving at dealerships and Nissan knows a lot of people are looking to gear them up and accessorize. Thus they chose the 2021 Overland Expo West last weekend in Flagstaff, AZ to introduce a line of all-new NISMO Off Road parts with a concept truck.
The parts getting shown off start right up front with a steel lower bash bumper that lays over the top of the plastic bumper fascia and includes two meaty tow hooks and has provisions for LED lighting. It has NISMO logo cut into it was clearly marked “prototype” so we’ll see what happens.
What you will be able to get for sure starts with the NISMO Off Road 4-inch LED lights with 3K lumens. They come with waterproof aluminum housings and mounting hardware complete with wiring. Nissan says they draw only 2 amps. Our press material didn’t mention switches, though the show truck clearly had them switched on the dash on the lower left side. They will be available for Frontier as well as other Nissan models including legacy Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra.
The NISMO Off Road Overland Bed Rack was displayed along with the new NISMO Off Road Rooftop Tent.
The rack system will come in a low and high version, the high version shown here. Made of powder coated steel, it features hole slots throughout on vertical and horizonal sections for mounting just about anything anywhere. Mounting and locking it down can be done either on the bed top or with the Utili-Track system as shown here. It will fit 2005-2022 Frontier, the high version available now, the low version later in 2022.
The Rooftop Tent is of the fold-out variety with accommodations for two people. It includes a wall-to-wall mattress with washable cover and three vents. It’s made of weather-resistant ripstop polyester canvas with mesh panels and comes with a sturdy 6.9-foot adjustable aluminum ladder.
The press materials and the representative on hand’t couldn’t speak to which manufacturer it is sourced from, but it looks to be identical to the one that Rough Country sells.
It will attach to most any rack system and weighs in at 132 pounds with a weight capacity of 600 pounds. A NISMO logo appears on the tent as well as on its vinyl cover. Will be available in early 2022 says Nissan.
Also shown on the show truck are NISMO logo 17-inch alloy wheels mounted up with some chunky tread Maxxis RAZR AT tires size 265/70R17. Also shown are NISMO logo lower step rails. It wasn’t clear in our press materials nor by the representative on hand as to whether these were functional rock rails or just for stepping. Time will tell. They look rugged either way.
The NISMO Off Road Performance Exhaust will be of interest with a stainless steel cat-back design that beefs up the sound of its standard 310 horsepower 3.8-liter V6. As expected it’s a plug and play direct bolt-on and has a thick polished tip with laser-etched NISMO logo. Nissan says it’s available now for the legacy 2005-2020 Frontier and will be available for the 2021 and 2022 Frontier early in 2022.
Nissan says more will be on the way, keep up with what’s next and when on the NISMO accessories website.
