Volvo returned the V60 sport wagon to the North American market this year and follows this important move with the announcement of the all-road centric 2015.5 Volvo V60 Cross Country.

Making its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, the 2015.5 Volvo V60 Cross Country is a pivotal model for Volvo, likely to become one of their top showroom draws.

With a rugged and handsome design upgrade as well as a ride height lift, the Volvo V60 Cross Country takes a page from the enormously popular V70 Cross Country of the late 1990’s.

The look starts with durable plastic fender flares, side skirts, and under-fascia rub surfaces that can soak up the occasional scruff with with soil or scrub brush and come out unscathed.

A significant increase in ground clearance is paired with under-chassis skid plates front and rear to give drivers increased confidence in the wild, knowing they aren’t going to tear into important drive-train bits.

The Cross Country will be available with 18” and 19” wheels matched with higher profile tires which better live on off-road surfaces, improving ride and reducing road shock – not to mention better protection for wheels.

Featuring Hill Descent Control, you can manage speed automatically down steep inclines. You can also enjoy enhanced sporty driving with torque vectoring technology and corner traction control.

All-wheel-drive of course is standard fare here in the North America. Here we will get exclusively Volvo’s venerable five-cylinder turbocharged engine with 250 horsepower at launch.

The new 2.0 liter four-cylinder Drive-E power-trains will be available with front-wheel drive in other global markets as well as turbo-diesels.

The cabin will feature unique sport seats with black leather and brown accent stitching and later a number of two-tone leather color schemes.

The 2015.5 Volvo V60 Cross Country will be available early in 2015. For more detail and photo galleries see our partner channel ActivityVehicle.com .
