It answers the question, how to spend more money on a GMC Canyon? The 2017 Canyon Denali made its debut at the is LA Auto Show, and is due to arrive in North American show rooms later in calendar year 2016.

The Denali gets a comprehensive package of upgrades for its fully-loaded price tag including the visual punch of the Denali trademark chrome grille and some huge looking 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted accents.

There’s lots of chrome as you’d expect like around the fog lights, on the standard 5-inch diameter door steps, and the exhaust tip.

A standard spray-on bed liner comes out back and there you’ll see DENALI stamped right in.

The interior comes upgraded black Mulan perforated leather seat trim, heated and ventilated up front.

Wood-grain trims along with Denali logo sill plates and floor mats round out the visual upgrades while a heated steering wheel keeps your hands warm on cold days.

It has a top-line standard audio and navigation infotaintment system which features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as OnStar 4G LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

It’s also one of the few mid-size trucks to have forward collision alert and lane departure warning.

You can get the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali only in a crew cab but with two or four-wheel drive and you can choose six different exterior colors. All interiors will however be Jet Black only.

It comes standard with the 305 horsepower 3.6-liter V6 but you can option the new 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel. The diesel offers segment leading towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds and the highest fuel economy in class at up to 31 mpg.

Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission.

GMC tells us us the Denali gets its name from Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America. This makes sense as GMC says their Denali brand represents their pinnacle of luxury, design and performance. Marketing imagery is bliss.

That said, at least for now competitors Toyota and Nissan don’t yet reach this high in terms of luxury trim with their trucks, leaving GMC your only choice in this strata. While pricing for the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali hasn’t yet been announced, you can expect them to fall into the 45-50,000 price range when they come to dealers next year.
