Unveiled this weekend at the Texas State Fair is the all new 2017 RAM 1500 pickup line, and with it a new Night special-edition package with blacked out sport appearance.

Giving truck buyers what RAM calls a straight-from-the-factory customized look, the Night Package is based on the RAM 1500 Sport trim grade that’s already got a healthy dose of street cred when it comes to styling.

The Sport comes right out the gate with body color bumpers with an integrated spoiler up front, body color door handles, mirrors and chrome 20-inch wheels. There’s also the blacked out projector beam headlights that we also see on the Rebel in addition to smoked tail lamps.

But stepping up to Night takes all the chrome and tosses it into the bin, replacing it with blacked out components from front to rear. The 20-inch wheels gloss black and with black sidewall tires. Up front is a gloss black cross-hair grille surround with black emblem and grille elements.

Badges all around are satin black including the large RAM letting on the rear tail gate plucked straight from the Rebel. In fact, the only chrome you’ll see are the tail pipes out back. Too bad they didn’t black those out too.

The interior is based on the RAM 1500 Sport which means high-back heated black cloth seats with 10-way power, power-adjustable pedals and dual zone climate control just to name a few niceties.

RAM will offer the Night Package on not only the Quad Cab and Crew Cab you see here but also the Regular Cab, in addition to both long and short beds. You can have two or four-wheel drive in addition to either of the available engines.

Those would be the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 with 305 horsepower or the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 with its 395 horsepower. Both engines of course come with an eight-speed automatic.

RAM points out that you can also stack on the options like RamBox cargo on the bed sides, as well as the matching black running boards you see here. While the standard suspension is coil front and rear, you can step up to the adjustable air suspension too.

Like the red one here you can also option the sport performance hood that can tie nicely into a Mopar cold air intake. Also shown on the red truck is a cat-back exhaust from Mopar – both items available at your dealership.

The Ram 1500 Night will be available in a limited selection of colors, the expected ones. These are Bright Silver Metallic, Bright White, Brilliant Black, Flame Red and Granite Crystal Metallic.

Pricing hasn’t yet been announced for the Night Package, but they will be arriving at dealerships later this fall, probably late October if I were to guess. I’d say price out a RAM Sport and add $500-600 to be in the neighborhood.
