At the Chicago Auto Show a slightly revised 2018 Toyota Sequoia was unveiled, showing off some new styling touches and an all-new TRD Sport trim grade.

If you’ve been waiting for an all-new Toyota Sequoia or even a somewhat refreshed one you may be a little disappointed as the 2018 model while including a number of new features and tweaks, is hardly a movement of substance.

To be fair Toyota has offered up redesigned and now standard LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Also standard are new LED fog lamps in a redesigned lower fascia that now includes a sensor for the also standard TSS-P safety systems.

The latter is now included on all trim grades, a suite of passive and active safety and assistance features than includes forward emergency warning and braking with pedestrian detection. Also included are lane departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights and radar based cruise control.

Really the biggest news is the new TRD Sport trim level you see here. Also introduced on the 2018 Toyota Tundra, the TRD Sport can be had in both two-wheel and all-wheel drive models and is geared toward street handling performance.

To wit, the package includes TRD sport tuned Bilstein shocks and TRD anti-sway bars front and rear. Adding to the handling and road feel are lower profile tires mounted to unique 20-inch black finished alloy wheels.

Visuals include those new LED headlights along with a unique front grill insert and lower fascia grille. Tail lights are the rear are blacked out and mirror caps are metallic black. Also blacked out are emblems all around.

Inside you get a few extras with the TRD Sport as well including black cloth seats, or black leather as an option with the Premium Package. You also get TRD logos on the shift knob, floor mats and door sill garnishes.

To accommodate the new TSS-P features there’s also a new instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch center display. Other minor changes include a revised center speaker and a new wood-grain finish for Platinum models.

Under the hood carries over the sole powertrain for the Sequoia, a 5.7-liter DOHC V8 engine with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2018 Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport comes to dealerships by September of this year is limited to only three colors including Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and the Magnetic Gray Metallic you see here.
