At the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, new Volvo EX90 made its official debut in North America a true three-row electric SUV bringing new levels of standard safety, sustainability and driver-centric technologies.

Calling it a “highly advanced computer on wheels” Volvo is highlighting the many safety and driver assistance technologies as well as its highly powerful infotainment systems at CES. To that, the Volvo EX90 is featured at both the Google and Luninar displays where many of its collaborative features will be shown.

A new flagship SUV, the Volvo EX90 features the brand’s classic in Scandinavian design ethos with taut lines and a silhouette of versatility and utility – form following function. A clean sheet of paper design, a 300 mile range is expected from its 111kWh battery. Power will come from a dual motor all-wheel drive system with 496 horsepower and 671 pound-feet of torque.

The cabin of the EX90 features a large portrait format 14.5-inch center screen featuring a full collaborative effort with Google with built-in feature content like maps, assistant and more. Don’t worry, it’s also features Apple CarPlay functionality.

State-of-the-art computing power from Snapdragon and graphic capabilities of Unreal Engine, the 3D tool developed by Epic Games and used to power some of the world’s largest games, The EX0- seeks to provide lightning-fast computing power and high-quality graphics.

A standard 5G connection provides for heightened connective services like navigation and audio streaming to be enjoyed through a Bowers & Wilkins audio system that features Dolby Atmos. It’s all combined with an interior environment of design and sophistication made with natural and responsibly-sourced materials.

The Volvo EX90 is said to be the safest Volvo ever with an invisible shield of sensing technology inside and out. State-of-the art sensors like cameras, radars and lidar build a real-time 360 view of the world around the vehicle – sensing the road in front of you up to two football fields ahead. This can give the driver more time to act and avoid dangerous, yet common, driving situations.

Inside, sensors and cameras keep an eye on the driver’s eye gaze and concentration, allowing the EX90 to know when you’re distracted, drowsy or otherwise inattentive. Meaning it’s going to tap you on the shoulder when you need it – first softly nudging, then increasingly more insistent. If you fall asleep it can even safely stop or call for help if you have a medial emergency.

To sustainability, the EX90 is made of some 15 percent of recycled steel, 25 percent recycled aluminum and over 105 pounds of recycled plastics – about 15 percent of the total plastics in the vehicle. It will be made for the North American market in a brand-new plant in Charleston, South Carolina starting in summer of 2023.

The 2024 Volvo EX90 is now available for pre-order at the Volvo website with a starting price under $80,000. Deliveries begin in early 2024.

Starting with the Volvo EX90, we’ll reveal one new fully electric car each year. By 2030, Volvo will become a 100% electric brand in their offerings with the goal of becoming a climate-neutral company in all aspects of production by 2040.
