At a packed house in a swank downtown Los Angeles venue, Steve Saleen unveiled his ultimate Mustang-based hot rod, the 2015 Saleen 302 Black Label.

Now the top of the line above the White and Yellow Label 302 Mustangs unveiled earlier, the new Black Label represents all that is and what can be for a Mustang from Saleen. And at least for now, it’s the most powerful Mustang you can buy.

Pulling supercharger technology from partner Kenne Bell, the most potent Saleen Saleen 302 Black Label will offer up 730 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. Take that Hennessy, Roush and Shelby American!

“Since I started building cars in 1984 my goal has always been to go above and beyond where anybody has been before”, said Steve Saleen. “This will by far be the most refined and advanced Mustang we have built to date.”

The new Black Label represents a great deal of work and research, given the car came to Saleen with an all-new platform. An entirely new Saleen suspension had to be engineered including their springs, shocks, sway-bars, and bushings that they say offers up refinement to go along with all that power.

Huge 15-inch brakes can be seen through new 20-inch Saleen wheels which bring a sense of traditional design to the Black Label which Saleen enthusiasts will recognize immediately. They support wider rubber with 275/35R20 at front and 275/40R20 at the rear.

And if you were underwhelmed by the lack of pizazz in the White and Yellow Label Saleen models, you won’t be disappointed here. This one goes all the way, offering up much of what you spend up for here.

Naked carbon fiber trims can be found all the way around from front to rear. It’s the new hood that really gets your attention, lowering the silhouette almost 2-inches right from the base of the windshield. The sculpt allows for a center hood scoop with raised look, but without taking away from outward visibility.

The re-imagined front fascia is not only more aggressive but lengthens the car by 1.5-inches. The rear fascia and Saleen wing lengthens the car an additional 2-inches, making for a total visual stretch of 3.5-inches over the stock Mustang.

At the unveiling event, Steve Saleen gave props to Katzkin for helping provide a top-notch custom interior treatment in black leather and suede. Accents and special touches on the steering wheel, door panels and dash are there too.

Saleen too will offer the option of bespoke paint colors from BASF. The reveal car shows off a new shade called California Sunset which blends pearls of yellow, gold and orange depending on the light.

As expected the cars are numbered and receive special badges, logos, insignias and a numbered VIN. Steve Saleen of course will sign each one. After all when you spend out for a car like this you want it be unique.

The 2015 Saleen 302 Black Label starts at $73,214 and ordering starts now.
