The Woodward Dream Cruise is ground zero for the muscle car world, and Dodge never misses the opportunity when revealing a new special edition. They did just that with the 2017 Charger Daytona.
When they arrive this fall, the 2017 Dodge Charger Dayona will be available in two temperatures, hot and hotter. This means you’ll be able to get either the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with its 375 horsepower or the more powerful 6.4-liter or 392 cubic-inch V8 with 485.
The Daytona sets itself apart out the outset with styling mods like a Scat Pack style front fascia and rocker trims, a NACA ducted hood with satin black graphics, a flat black roof treatment and additional graphics at the rear.
A unique grille has retro touches and Daytona badge and Goodyear Eagle F1 wrapped 20×9-inch forged alloy wheels in Hyper Black get special center caps with the Dodge stripe logos.
Performance upgrades include a cold-air induction system and the Super Track Pack. This means you get a tighter suspension with Bilstein shocks, high-performance brake pads and the ability to turn the stability control completely off.
It’ll sound meaner too with the active exhaust system that has full-length pipes of 2.7 inches with fat 4-inch tips. It offers a quiet sound with no drone while cruising but opens flaps when you put your foot down, unleashing a healthy rap, crackle and pop.
You get a better 2.62 axle ratio with the 5.7-liter Daytona and a 3.09 axle gear with the Daytona 392. While both numbers seem less than you’d want, the 8-speed automatic transmission allows for a wide enough range to make it all good.
The interior of the Dodge Charger Daytona features unique Nappa leather sport seats with Alcantara suede inserts with gold accent stitching and embroidered Daytona logos. The gold accent stitching is also found on door panels and the console.
Also part of the upgrade package are features like driver’s seat and power tilt and telescoping steering wheel memory, LED ambient cabin lighting, ParkSense rear park assist system, security system and HID projector headlamps.
Stepping into the Daytona 392 gets you extras inside like a 180 mph speedometer and expanded Performance Pages with the center touchscreen system. It also has larger Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear vented disc brakes.
You’ll be seen coming in either model as they’ll be available in some bright new colors including Green Co, Yellow Jacket, Go Mango and TorRed. If you’re more into the down low appearance you can still get the Daytonas in the rest of the standard color palette.
Pricing starts at $39,890 for the 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona and $44,995 for the Daytona 392.
