Coming to showrooms soon, the top-of-the-line 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit has been given a healthy upgrade inside and out to raise the bar not only for what it offers buyers, but making it what Jeep says is the most luxurious in class.

While styling for the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee didn’t change significantly, the new Summit model gets a number of new details that set it apart from the rest. These start with a new front fascia design with satin chrome trims.

That satin finish extends to the rocker trims, accents at the rear fascia, the dual tail pipe tips a unique grill that’s framed by LED headlamps. A new 20-inch polished aluminum wheel design also gives a more upscale vibe.

Where the 2017 Grand Cherokee Summit really gets amped up is inside. It gets a full wrap in Laguna leather from the dash and door panels, the console and the seats. You can choose four colors including a new Indigo and Ski Gray scheme.

More swank than before, the leather upholstery features diamond stitched accent panels to go along with an elevated level of wood and aluminum trim elements. The headliner also features a sueded surface to help the quiet along with acoustic glass and active noise cancellation.

That means you can now crank up the 812 watt 19-speaker Harmon/Kardon audio system with its three sub-woofers for maximum effect.

The rest of the package brings with it all the technical features you expect like power folding side mirrors, washers for the headlights, in addition to driver assistance aids like blind spot warning. forward collision warning and lane departure warning among others.

The Summit like before will continue to be available in either two or four wheel drive. If you option four-wheel drive it gets the top-end Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system with its 44.1:1 crawl ratio. It also gets an electronic limited slip differential for max traction off-road and the adjustable Quadra-Lift air suspension.

You can choose all three engines available in the Grand Cherokee as well. These start with the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 with its 295 horsepower as well as the all-powerful 5.7 liter HEMI V8 with 360 horsepower.

Then there is my personal favorite, the 3.0 liter EcoDiesel with its 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. You get off-road pull with the ability to get 30 mpg on the highway. All engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit will be arriving at dealerships later this fall with pricing to be announced closer to that time.

We’ll be bringing you a far more detailed review soon when we get one for a test drive.
