At the New York Auto Show the full line of 2019 GMC Sierra pickups will be on hand and revealed is the all-new Sierra AT4 off-road version which marks the beginning of a new showroom wide trim grade that will be seen on all models.
Taking the GMC All Terrain trim grade to the next level in the 2019 Sierra, the AT4 accentuates the all-new pickup’s bold styling and muscular features with a comprehensive list of hardware upgrades, styling enhancements and a factory 2-inch suspension lift.
Styling starts out with black chrome finishes around the grille and other key areas, body color bumpers, and gloss black window surrounds and mirror caps. Emblems are red as are the vertical tow hooks. LED signature lighting and taillights add some flash too.
Standard wheels are an exclusive 18-inch alloy design with machined-face and dark pockets available with mud terrain-rated Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. You can also option up some larger 20-inch wheels for a more street appearance.
The 2019 Sierra AT4 comes standard with the new MultiPro Tailgate which allows multi-faceted functionality with six different opening and operating positions. The new CarbonPro carbon fiber mixed materials bed, a GMC exclusive, will be available as an option.
The cabin gets its share of upgrades too with the dark chrome trim flowing across the dash and door panels along with dark tinted aluminum textured bits all around. Leather seats get special stitching and accents along with embroidered AT4 logos on the headrests.
What’s important to most buyers is what’s underneath and like the Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss, the Sierra AT4 comes standard with a factory 2-inch suspension lift with taller springs, Ranch off-road shocks and a rear locking differential.
Standard four-wheel drive comes with a traditional two-speed transfer case that can be set manually. Those who prefer the automatic set it and forget it will like the Traction Select System that has a variety of preset modes for various conditions. Hill descent control is also included.
Horsepower figures haven’t yet been announced, but standard will be the latest variation of the 5.3-liter V8 and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Optional will be a 6.2-liter V8 which is paired with a 10-speed automatic. Both engines will have an auto-start-stop system and cylinder shut-off that will allow operation on just one and up to all eight cylinders.
The new 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel will be available as well, also mated with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
The GMC Sierra AT4 goes on sale this fall with specifications and pricing to come along closer to that time.
