Made in China, the 2021 Buick Envision crossover SUV is all-new from the ground up, now the middle of the Buick showroom in North America – a place that no longer has a traditional sedan or wagon.

Starting at $32,995, the new 2021 Buick Envision is lower and wider, proportions and styling that try to be more like the cars that have disappeared yet with the taller room and practicality SUVs. Wheel sizes range from standard 18-inch alloys and go up to 20-inches in size.

Three separate trim grades with distinct personalities are now offered including Preferred, Essence and the top drawer Avenir. Additionally you can option a Sport Touring package with a sportier appearance including dark 20-inch wheels.

Overall, styling is crisper and sharper than last year with lines and shapes that are less rounded and more expressive.

Like most upscale vehicles today you get standard LED headlamps, daytime running lights and taillights in addition to a cute light up welcome lighting feature. LED lighting is virtually a giveaway in China so Buick has your back on this one.

The cabin is rich with a clean feng shui approach in modern design as well a slathering of the latest convenience and technology features. Chief among the new offerings include a 10.2-inch infotainment screen.

Design notables include a striking center console with push button shifting that frees up space and enables more versatility. Storage space is also increased over the last generation Envision. Material and switchgear quality appear to be well executed.

A first for Envision, the Avenir trim level which is the ultimate spend is now available. This brings with it a host of interior upgrades and standard amenities like heated and ventilated front seats with diamond-perforated quilted leather trims and even a driver’s seat massager. Rear seats are heated too and a navigation system is included.

The Envision seats five passengers, if you want three rows and seven passenger seating you can step up to the larger Buick Enclave – now the only Buick made in America.

Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. With engine auto-start-stop, it comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and can be had with either front or all-wheel drive.

Suspension is independent all around with MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear. As with any new car new a suite of passive aggressive safety minders is standard equipment for those of you who really aren’t alive behind the wheel.
