In a world where everyone’s talking about the transition to zero-emission all-electric motoring, Chevrolet introduced a high-performance “pursuit rated” 2023 Tahoe RST Performance Edition which borrows all the cop gear under the hood and packages it with all the luxury goods.

Powering the Tahoe RST Performance Edition is a standard 6.2-liter V8 with a 13 horsepower power bump to a total of 433 and 467 pound-feet of torque by way of a high-performance exhaust system. It puts power to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

This makes it the fastest Tahoe available to retail customers with a 0-60 time of 5.78 seconds. Top speed is 124 mph and a quarter mile in 14.2 seconds at 97 mph. Chevrolet says it can stop from 60 mph in as short as 133 feet.

That all sounds kind of scary in a large top-heavy Tahoe but handling is handled with a number of key items from the police-spec parts bin. These include police-spec springs, dampers and bushings giving it a 10mm lower ride height. Cop suspension.

Stopping all that weight and speed are larger Brembo front and rear brakes with unique red calipers all with a full calibration for stronger brake feel. Cop brakes. Finally you get huge police-spec Firestone Firehawk Pursuit 275/55R20 tires mounted to some handsome 20-inch alloy wheels. Cop tires.

Inside you will not at all feel like you’re in a police cruiser however. Standard is the Luxury Package with all the leathered up goodness, creature comforts of tech and climate, audio infotainment top-end and the best trims available in Tahoe.

In addition to the unique powertrain, chassis and suspension upgrades, the Tahoe RST Performance Edition comes standard with the Luxury Package, which includes a host of active safety features and driver convenience features.

Exterior trim treatments are the expected here with blacked out this and that, along with blacked-out “RST” badges. Wheels are black and at the rear are some handsome dual-exhaust outlets to give the high-performance wave to those watching from behind. LED lighting is standard front and rear.

While this Tahoe is all about performance, capability isn’t left behind in the tire smoke. The Tahoe RST Performance Edition has the same 7,600-pound tow rating as the base RST equipped with the 6.2-liter V8.

The Tahoe RST Performance Edition package has an MSRP of $8,525 on top of the base price of the 2023 Tahoe RST with a 6.2-liter V8. They begin production late this year with deliveries early in 2023. Now is the time to start talking special order with your dealer if you want one.
