Because Toyota desperately needs another SUV in their showroom right? Whether you share that sentiment or not, the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia brings a crossover SUV variant to their Crown nameplate next year – offering a premium silk purse two-row for those who want a little more style and luxury over the three-rows and family truckster utility such as with the Highlander
As such, the Crown Signia will occupy a top of the line place in the showroom slightly wider and and more prominent than the Venza which currently serves as the upscale whip. It has a more coupe-like roofline, a more aggressive broad shouldered stance and features Toyota’s new “Hammerhead” front fascia design language. Definitely sexier than the Venza which likely should be watching it’s back for an axe when this thing goes live.
The Crown Signia will come in only in two top trim grades XLE and Limited. Wheel sizes are 19-inches and 21-inches respectively. It will sport standard upscale features like full digital 12.3-inch screens ahead of the driver and at the center stack.
Top Limited models get a 360-degree monitor with overhead and curb views for low-speed drive and reverse. There’s also a host of other connected feature content available – a list too long to dive into here. The rub is that most of it is subscription based.
The tangible side of the cabin however offers yards of luxurious and visually appealing soft trims wrapping its surfaces throughout.
Upholstery in the XLE is Softex and cloth. Stepping into the Limited gets you full JBL audio, a panoramic glass roof, and heated and ventilated quilted leather seating with designer piping and accents. Both trim grades offer a choice of rich Saddle Tan or Black color combinations.
Because it is a larger crossover SUV in the two-row segment, Toyota is bragging about its 6.5-foot cargo area length when the second row seats are folded flat. The rear lift-gate is power operated by key fob, buttons up front and a kick sensor under the bumper. And it should be quiet and peaceful with extra attention paid to sound deadening and features like acoustic glass.
Powering the Crown Signia will be a standard AWD Hybrid drivetrain featuring Toyota’s proven 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motor generators. Producing 243 combined system horsepower Toyota says to expect up to 36 combined mpg. Nice. And in case you were wondering, it can tow up to 2,700 pounds.
The electronic on-demand AWD like most contemporary Toyota hybrids features a separate rear-mounted electric motor drive unit. It can distribute up to 80 percent of off-the-line torque to the rear wheels. Furthermore, the system can also vector power to enhances cornering feel and stability.
The 2025 Toyota Crown as said will be an upscale and more luxurious choice among the some nine other options you can look at in their showroom. Pricing hasn’t been announced just yet but given it will hail from one of Toyota’s Japanese assembly plants, expect it to fall in line above the Venza and closer to that of the Grand Highlander.
This as well as final specifications will be along closer to its launch in summer of 2024.
