For those missing the three-row Lexus RX-L be happy. The 2024 Lexus TX brings the size and capability of a true three-row SUV in a package design specifically for the North American Market. This means you will see these at fashionable upscale malls, soccer practice, and churches all across the fruited plain.

Base on the also new Toyota Grand Highlander, the 2024 Lexus TX brings its own sense of style with hallmark details and design DNA that make it decidedly a Lexus. The spindle grille, sharp LED daytime signature lighting and standard 20 to 22-inch wheels all speak to its place in the lineage of luxury.

From the rear three quarter view it has a nice planted stance and looks dare I say it a lot like a scaled down full size LX in its form. Surely no accident. The blacked out D-Pillar however adds a more youthful and avant garde vibe though.

Inside the three-row family hauler is trademark Lexus design and material quality. Ahead of the driver is an available 12.3 digital cluster display and an available head-up display (HUD). Center stage is a massive 14-inch multimedia touchscreen interface loaded with all of the latest connectivity features including cloud based back-end for services and data.

Standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional on all trim grades is a 21-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound System – usually expensive but worth the upspend in sound quality.

An available center console for the second row with captain chairs is actually removable if you want it out, full of storage if you want it in. Cargo capacity is huge. There’s 57.4 cubic feet in the back with third row down, 97 cubic feet with all seats down – and a nearly flat floor at that.

Powertrains offer a surprising level of choice, power and efficiency with three different options. The TX 350 which is available in FWD and AWD has a standard 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.

Next up is the TX 500h which features the brands new DIRECT4 AWD. It has a 2.4-liter turbocharged four with full hybrid power front and rear. With 366 horsepower and 409 pound-feet of torque it also features rear steering that can turn the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels to aid high speed lane changes or opposite at low speed to help in parking maneuvers. Fuel efficiency is expected to be about 24 mpg combined.

The top dog is the TX 550h+. Also with DIRECT4 AWD this one is a plug-in hybrid based around the 3.5-liter V6. With an estimated EV range of 33 miles, it will be the most efficient of the three but also the most powerful with some 406 horsepower. A 30 mpg combined rating is targeted.

When it arrives soon, the 2024 Lexus TX come in four trim levels: Standard, Premium, Luxury and F SPORT Performance. The TX 350 and 500h are arriving imminently, the high powered TX 550h+ PHEV will come sometime next year.
